Love spells aren’t about waving a wand or casting a spell to control someone (definitely not!)

They’re about using magick to set intentions, and focusing your energy on what you want to attract. And it’s the strength of these – your intention and attraction – that will make a spell work fast or not.

That said, you can help those things along by using the right spell, and the right ingredients. So whether you’re looking to draw in the love of your life, strengthen an existing connection, or just feel more confident in your own skin, these simple rituals can help shift your mindset and open you up to possibilities.

Here, I’m sharing three spells that I’ve personally tried: a sweet little jar spell, a candle ritual, and a quick love chant for when you don’t have any supplies handy.

1. Love jar spell

This jar spell is a classic because it’s both practical and symbolic, using sweet ingredients to attract and nurture love in your life. By sealing your intentions in a physical form, you’re creating a tangible focus for your energy that continues to work even after the spell is complete.

Spell ingredients:

• A small glass jar with a lid
• Honey or sugar (for sweetness)
• A piece of paper
• A red or pink pen
• Rose petals

Spell steps:

1. Write your name and your desired person’s name on the piece of paper.

2. Fold the paper towards you once, twice, three times, while imagining the love between you growing stronger.

3. Place the paper into the jar and cover it with honey or sugar.

4. Add rose petals (fresh or dried).

5. Seal the jar tightly and hold it in your hands while saying:
“With sweetness and light, our love takes flight,
What I desire, comes true tonight.”

6. Store the jar in a safe place and revisit it whenever you need to renew the energy.

2. Paper and candle love spell

Fire has long been seen as a symbol of passion and transformation, which is why candle spells are so effective in love. By combining the power of flame with your written intentions, you’re amplifying your desires and sending them out into the universe with clarity and purpose.

Spell ingredients:

• A pink or red candle
• A piece of paper
• A pen
• Pinch cinnamon powder

Spell steps:

1. Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Light the pink or red candle, and take a moment to focus on your intention—what kind of love you want to attract or strengthen.

2. On your piece of paper, write an affirmation like “Our love grows stronger each day” or “I attract a love that is pure and true”. Start at the top-left corner of the paper and write it along the edge. Continue writing the affirmation around all four edges, without lifting your pen, until the last word connects seamlessly to the first. This creates an unbroken flow of energy.

3. In the middle of the paper (inside the frame of your affirmation), write your name and the name of the person you desire. If you’re not focusing on a specific person, simply write “My soulmate” or “The one meant for me.”

4. Sprinkle a small pinch of cinnamon onto the paper. Cinnamon is a powerful spice for love and attraction and will add extra energy to your intention.

5. Fold the paper in half towards yourself, sealing in the energy. Then fold it in half again towards yourself. Repeat a third time, always folding towards yourself, as this draws the energy and love into your life.

6. Place the folded paper under the candle (or next to it if it feels safer). Light the candle and focus on its flame. Visualize your desire coming true—the love you want growing stronger or drawing nearer.

7. As the candle burns, say this chant three times:
“With fire and light, love comes to me,
A bond that is strong, as I will it to be.”

8. Allow the candle to burn down completely, or extinguish it if necessary and relight it later to continue focusing on your intention. Keep the folded paper in a safe place, like under your pillow or in a drawer, as a reminder of your intention.

3. No-ingredients love chant 

If you’re looking for something quick and ingredient-free, try this simple chant:

Spell steps:

Close your eyes for a moment and visualize yourself surrounded by love and light. Imagine the person you desire feeling drawn to you.

Chant three times:
“Love flows to me, swift and true,
A bond unbroken, between us two.
By my words and heart’s decree,
So mote it be, so mote it be.”

Repeat this chant daily for seven days to build energy and focus.

At the end of the day, love spells aren’t a magic fix (ironic, eh?!) but they’re a powerful way to focus on what you truly want. 

Each of these rituals will help to ground you in your own energy and crucially, help you feel clear and more connected to your desires, which is what will create that attraction.

The beauty of casting these simple, fast-acting spells is that they will remind you that attracting love starts with loving yourself enough to believe you deserve it!

 Keep an open mind, set your intentions clearly, and trust the process – oftentimes, life has a way of working things out in its own time.
